LASIK Institute: The Eye Surgery Education Council

The American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) established an initiative called the Eye Surgery Education Council, which is a professional society of ophthalmologists that are dedicated to raising the skills and standards of eye surgeions who operate on the anterior portion of the eye. The intention is to raise standards through clinical education as well as working with patients, the medical community and governments to promote the delivery of quality eye care.

The Eye Surgery Education Council, often referred to as the LASIK Institute, was launched in June of 2002 at the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery’s Annual Symposium
